Case study

Transforming the Bras N Things supply chain

Bras N Things is Australia’s leading lingerie retailer. Employing more than 1,500 people, they have over 200 stores situated throughout Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Challenge
The Bras N Things team faced a number of challenges within their supply chain. Discussions revealed that supply chain visibility was severely lacking, there were problems with unreliable QA and QC checks close to source and their disjointed international freight programme simply did not meet best-in-class practices. What’s more, with a rapidly evolving retail store development programme, it had become clear that the Bras N Things international supply chain was not engineered to service such expansions internally.

Our Solution
In order to support Bras N Things in transforming their international supply chain, we were able to introduce a number of solutions, including:

  • Our team receiving and sorting cargo as per end Distribution Centre (DC); cargo is delivered in store level cartons containing mixed product orders
  • Implementing our state-of-the-art supply chain technology Ligentix, providing much greater visibility and a wealth of data; with this in place, we now manage the creation and application of SSCC carton labels
  • Performing quality checks on 10% of all cartons and then adding the results to a KPI report; the KPI report is then used to make up part of a useful monthly Vendor Scorecard

Results

  • By enabling Bras N Things to avoid costly destination rework and maintaining store ready SKUs, we have developed a much leaner supply chain
  • We have provided analysis and feedback that ensures Bras N Things has a comprehensive vendor portfolio, aiding in future sourcing initiatives
  • By taking the time to understand the business and its priorities, we were able to reduce cost and maintain service levels without any material impact on vendors or Bras N Things customers
