Procurement Manager America & LCL

We’re looking for a Procurement Manager America & LCL to join our team in Hong Kong. In the role, you’ll execute the North America Procurement strategy, negotiate and manage competitive contracts with shipping lines to ensure growth and margin targets.

General Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Commercial team (key Client and Agency development) develop and support the US Ocean Strategy.
  • Help to drive the Commercial Strategy through effective Ocean Procurement aligned with local and global strategy.
  • Collate and provide relevant market and pricing information to the network.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with our Commercial team, overseas networks and carriers; to include face to face carrier meetings and contract negotiation.

Specific Responsibilities:

Carrier and Route Development

  • Develop and build solid relationships with carriers (LCL, North & South America), at all levels (rate, allocation, schedule, haulage and landside term), seeking best fit with our UK clients as well as our agency network strategy.
  • Analyse market conditions to help facilitate deal making and enable proactive guidance of the Commercial organisation (e.g. balance long term deals against spot market opportunities to delivery service and increased profit margins).

Customer / Agent Review Meetings

  • Take an active management role in preparation for and conducting of review meetings, to review forecast, lifting KPI.
  • Have a detailed understanding of agreed service levels, relevant KPIs, and be closely involved in the monitoring and delivery of agreed SLAs.

Rates and Space Management

  • Secure the necessary rates and space agreements direct from carriers as appropriate.
  • Be directly involved with Ligentia stakeholders to monitor and ensure carrier and customer commitments are met.

Market / Product Knowledge

  • Build market and product knowledge and devise a communication plan to ensure that market intelligence is shared with colleagues and the wider business.

Ligentia Network:

  • Build a strong and effective internal network (from sales to operation), at both origins and destinations side. Coordinate with different team members, coach and guide them as necessary, set and monitor performance driven objectives and KPIs. Optimise profit.
  • Support team member as other key trade lane back up

Customer & Commercial Meetings

  • As required, join the commercial teams on client visits to get a better understanding of client needs, explain market conditions and act as a subject matter expert regarding the Ocean product.
  • Attend internal Commercial meetings to represent the Procurement team as required.
  • Develop expertise in carrier services and use this product expertise to work with the Commercial teams to help present value propositions that enable us to win new and retain existing business.
  • To help develop and deliver presentations to clients and internal colleagues as required.
